SEARAT Amateur Radio Club
The SEARAT Amateur Radio Club (SARC) is for those interested in furthering their radio communication skills and obtaining FCC licenses. We hope that it is an opportunity to explore the vast opportunities in the radio art and science, and use the knowledge and skills obtained through a fun-filled, challenging hobby to improve military radio communications. There is no cost for membership. If interested in joining or just curious about what is going on, please email the link below. We will use the distro list to let folks know about radio communications related events, including fun lunchtime classes, Parks on the Air adventures, or a lunchtime check-in net.
Get Licensed
The FCC Technician License exam covers basic regulations, operating practices and electronics theory, with a focus on VHF and UHF applications. Morse code is not required for this license. You will have all ham radio privileges above 30 MHz, and passing the exam can be easier than you might think!
Get On The Air
With your call sign in-hand, it is time to get on the air. A basic handheld transceiver (HT) rig can cost less than $30. Make your first net check-in over a repeater, discover your favorite voice or digital mode, and you're on your way to making contacts around the globe!
